Island Gardens - An entertaining and informative talk by Alan P. Bennell. Among the nearly 2,000 islands scattered around the coasts of the British Isles, a select few play host to exceptional and largely unknown gardens. Since retiring from a 40 year career at the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, Alan Bennell has spent the past decade visiting many of these islands and seeking out these characterful gems, which he will share in this visually rich and entertaining talk. Alan P. Bennell (BA Hons Botany Oxford 1973) was Principal Scientific Officer, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh 1976-2014, including periods as Deputy Director Public Programmes and Head of Exhibitions & Education.
