Kayak 2 Climb Tasmania

The Bass Strait, a treacherous stretch of water off the southeast coast of Australia, separates the rugged island of Tasmania from the mainland. Known as the "Everest of the sea," this passage is notorious for its wild swells, fierce squalls and unpredictable tides. Crossing it by kayak is considered a monumental feat, one that should not be taken lightly. Join us as we share the incredible journey of two locals from Fort William, Fi and Jim Corfe, who dared to take on this challenge! But their adventure didn’t end there. After crossing the Bass Strait, they pushed further, circumnavigating the entire wild, remote island of Tasmania, climbing unclimbed granite in the bass strait and ticking off some of Tassie's best sea cliffs. And as if that wasn’t enough, they ventured back to mainland Australia via the less-travelled western crossing. Fi and Jim are known for making their journeys even more challenging. On this expedition, they brought along 180 meters of rope and full climbing gear to establish new climbing routes on the isolated Kent Group Islands and tackle some of Tasmania’s most iconic sea cliffs. Join us for a fantastic multimedia debrief of their 106-day adventure – a journey filled with towering waves, extreme weather, unclimbed granite, moments of laughter, tears and sharks. All tickets are £12.50 regardless of where you sit, so get in quick to get the best seats!Kayak 2 Climb Tasmania showing at: January 9, 7:30 pm
